Who we are
Choppy is provided by Rootsi Capital OÜ, Estonia. Privacy contact: support@devrootsi.com. This policy covers the iOS app’s video processing, saving and sharing, purchases and product analytics.
Your clips
Choppy processes video entirely on your device. It does not upload clips, create accounts or run a server. The system picker shares only the video you select; Choppy never requests access to your whole photo library. Exported videos carry no location metadata.
Saving and sharing
Choppy asks for add-only Photos permission when you save. Sharing is handled by the iOS share sheet and the service you choose, which applies its own privacy policy. Temporary copies stay in the app’s private storage and are cleared on a later launch.
Your one-time purchase
Apple processes payment. We do not receive your card details. Choppy reads Apple’s signed purchase record on your device to unlock Pro; restore is available in Settings and on the purchase screen.
Understanding what works
The release app sends anonymous product events to PostHog (EU hosting): app opens, onboarding completion, clip picked, export completed, purchase screen views, purchases and shares. Events include whether Pro is unlocked, a random identifier generated by the app, and the device model, iOS and app version. We never send your videos, frames, file names, clip metadata, location, contacts or advertising ID, and IP addresses are discarded. There are no ads and no cross-app tracking. Debug builds send nothing.
Retention and your rights
Analytics events are kept only as long as needed to understand how the app is used. We process them on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the app. You may request access or deletion, or object to analytics, by emailing support@devrootsi.com; because events are anonymous, include the approximate date you used the app. You may also contact your local data protection authority, including Estonia’s Andmekaitse Inspektsioon. Deleting the app removes its local files and its random identifier.
Children and changes
Choppy is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If this policy changes, the updated version and effective date will appear here before the changed processing begins.
